Queensland Labor Government Failures.
1. 12.4 Billion in project blowouts (that’s $12,000,400,000.00) including:
* $960,000,000.00 cross river rail blowout
* $660,000.000.00 M1 upgrade
* $2,000,400,000.00 train manufacturing blowout
2. Gabba redevelopment blowout (additional to the above) $1Billion ($1,000,000,000.00) even before a sod of dirt turned or a plan developed.
3. $157,000,000.00 on a fleet of aircraft
4. $200,000,000.00 in expired RAT tests binned.
5. Put a number of maternity wards on bypass, jeopardising the lives of mothers.
6. $220,000,000.00 on a quarantine facility (Wellcamp) that Queenslanders don’t own.
7. A juvenile crime epidemic created and maintained by weak government laws. Minimum sentences not reviewed despite pleads from the electorate and opposition.
8. Public transport fare evasion – $30,000,000.00 (Brisbane only). Bus driver and passenger safety compromised due to lack of policing resources across the network.
9. Police recruitment numbers severely under target – now recruiting overseas.
10. Health Department in disarray including but not limited to:
* ambulance ramping the worst in history and continuing to worsen (from 15% to 46%)
* Regional maternity wards closed due to lack of specialist doctors
* Numerous cases of malpractice
* Payroll debacle No 2 – again over and under pays expected to cost millions
* A health minister totally unable to cope and rather than being sacked is given the Attorney Generals role.
11. Integrity issues including:
* Integrity Commissioners laptop seized and contents deleted without her knowledge and her staff slashed to one. All whilst investigating illegal lobbying.
* Bullying throughout the public service.
* Jacki Trad’s legal fees paid for by the taxpayer.
12. Rapists and murderers walking free due to the mismanagement of the state run forensic lab.
13. Queenslanders living in cars and on the streets due to the complete failure of this government to provide social and community housing.
14. Sneaky underhanded cash grabs including land valuation, car registration and fine increases in the midst of a cost of living squeeze.
15. An army of spin doctors on the payroll protecting the Premier and Ministers from answering the hard questions. All spin no substance.
16. Unions influencing Cabinet decisions.
17. Increased electricity prices despite being in power for close to 30 years …… mismanagement of current coal and gas generators of which the state rely on for reliable energy.
18. Policy made up on the fly as was proven recently with the government’s response to the juvenile crime crisis
19. A Covid response built on fear mongering and manipulation. Resulting in families being separated, loved ones being unable to attend funerals and weddings, the sick unable to attend medical appointments, businesses bankrupted, jobs lost, houses repossessed and increased suicides …… all for nothing!!! Daily press conferences by the Premier – now she has to be dragged in front of a camera unless it’s a red carpet event.
20. Interfering in the private rental market and blaming investors for her governments social housing failures.
21. Griffith University social housing bungle. $2.1 million spent on a report confirming the old student accommodation was not fit for purpose and was a unacceptable fire risk. That’s $2,100,000.00 on a report.
22. EV rebate increased from $3000 to $6000 for middle income earners. A taxpayer funded rebate to buy a car given to people who are struggling to pay bills, especially power bills, and put food on the table.
23. Palaszczuk government expense reports required to be updated quarterly have not been uploaded to the state’s open-data portal for more than a year – a defiance of stated transparency responsibilities and strategy.
24. $2.4 billion ($2,000,400,000.00) train manufacturing blowout deliberately hidden by Transport Minister Bailey. Just reported (July/August 2023). Premier does nothing – as usual.
25. Multiple innocents stabbed by juvenile criminals and robbed (July 2023) despite Premiers “toughest juvenile crime laws in Australia”
26. Domestic violence offences up 40% with police being called to 500 incidents per day. (As per police commissioners report August 2023)
27. 202 fewer police officers as per August 2023 than in the corresponding period 2022. 685 resigned with only 483 sworn in.
28. Breaking of transparency promises from Palaszczuk now back flipping on implementing all recommendations of the Coldrake review. Lies, lies, lies …..
29. Only 28 of 81 recommendations to overhaul the Blue Card system completed in 6 years – 6 years!!!!!
30. 41,400 Queenslanders on the social housing waitlist.
31. Hydro hoax confirmed! No funding in the budget forwards for the Pioneer – Burdekin project.
32. Rockwood Weir project construction $201 million (54% increase) blowout. (Additional blowout from those already listed)
33. No business case for the redevelopment of the Gabba.
34. Education Minister Grace Grace unable to deliver on her election promise of 7329 additional teachers and teachers aides.
35. Ambulance traffic light system inoperable for 5 months before government was aware.
36. Mental health facilities promised for Bundaberg, Cairns and Rockhampton two years ago still unopened and have now been confirmed not to be operational until next year at the earliest.
37. Mental Health Minister, Shannon Fentiman, admits the Labor government has not been “accountable and transparent” on how the $1.6 billion mental health levy is being spent to address the state’s mental health crisis. (Aug 2023)
38. $177 million blowout on rail station upgrades (additional to other blowouts). Another Minister Blowout Bailey piece of work.
39. Don Brown (Labor’s Chief Government Whip) dismisses the youth crime epidemic as a media beat up.
40. Ministers Mark (Blowout) Bailey, Shannon Fentiman and Leeanne Enoch dismiss the Premiers waver from pursuing a state based voice despite Queenslanders voting an overwhelming 68% against the voice referendum. A referendum that had a clear and convincing 60% of the Australian public vote NO to the voice proposal. Showing again a Labor state government embroiled in internal turbulence as well as one that governs only for the ideological minority.
41. $500,000.00 on another consultants’ Olympic Games governance report.
42. Premier refuses to meet with juvenile crime protesters in Townsville instead sending a back bencher (Aaron Harper) who proceeds to put them down by claiming they are LNP supporters. Strong leadership indeed!!! (29 Oct 2023)
43. $464,000,000.00 (yep that’s 464 million) cost blowout on Energy Queensland’s IT system – “the Digital Enterprise Building Block System.” Budget of $229 million – completed cost $693.8 million. So bad even the ETU raised concerns about the contractor.
44. Premier Palaszczuk orders $393,000.00 of secret taxpayer funded opinion polling ahead of 2024 election and refuses to release the results. (Nov 2023)
45. $585,000.00 of taxpayers money. given to the “Wiggles” to promote free kindy!! More taxpayers money used for propaganda. (Nov 2023)
46. Minister Mark “Blowout” Bailey caught out again hiding another massive project cost blowout of $3.1 billion this one being the Gold Coast Fast Rail project. That’s $3,100,000,000.00. Yet he and his heads of department keep their jobs thanks to a puppet Premier. (Nov 2023)
47. “They (Labor) have ignored repeated warnings about deteriorating safety standards and refused to cut the cancer at WHSQ. Our members are sick of Labor politicians crying crocodile tears for dead workers and then do nothing to prevent the next tragedy from occurring. Workers now know where they stand with missing-in-action Minister for Industrial Relations (Grace Grace) and an out-of-touch Premier. They will not forgive or forget this betrayal” ……. 48. 103,000 DNA tests to be re-done as a result of the Queensland Forensic Labs total system fiasco. A process that will take 2 to 3 years. No one sacked!!! Premier says nothing!! Does nothing!!
49. Emperor Anna Caesar (in keeping with the other Roman Emperors) try’s to buy the masses loyalty by shamelessly giving $1400 and $2200 cost of living Christmas bonuses to public servants. That’s $350,000,000.00. No one else – just public servants. No matter that every department is in chaos and under performing.
50. “Blowout Bailey” won’t release the costings on the Gold Coast Fast Rail project ….. that is until a journalist tells him the federal government has published it on their website!!! Then acknowledges a $3.1 billion blowout. Premier as always does nothing. (Nov 29, 2023)
51. The Premier demands Council, AFL and Queensland Cricket share the cost for a $137 million stadium at the RNA. A demand totally blindsiding all three. Another example of all spin and no substance. Make an announcement before a finalised plan. (Dec 2023)
52. Queensland Police Union boss Ian Leavers slams the Queensland government of installing extra speed cameras in rural and regional areas as nothing more than “revenue raising” – not safety. Another “Blowout Bailey” effort. (Dec 2023)
53. Former Labor Minister Bob Gibbs launches brutal attack against the Premier saying Labor MP’s must declare no confidence in Palaszczuk’s leadership and force her to resign. He described the Premier as “the walking dead” (Dec 2023)
54. Queensland Audit Office reports the state government will not meet its target of 1450 police officers by 2025.
55. Premier Palaszczuk supports Minister “Blowout” Bailey over the Mangocube debacle when the Minister used his private mangocube6@yahoo.com.uk email for official government business in breach of the Public Records Act. He also attempted to delete the account after it was exposed.
56. Since being elected in 2015 and watering down laws, car theft has increased by 125%, break and enters are up 64% and assaults have increased by 223% …..
57. Labor powerbroker and ex-minister Robert Schwarten, interviewed on Channel 7 news, says Palaszczuk should quit. (01/12/2023)
58. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner quits the Brisbane 2032 Games delivery forum declaring the Palaszczuk government has “completely lost its way. The Intergovernmental Leaders Forum is a dysfunctional farce, a pointless talkfest established to placate key stakeholders while all the real decisions are made by the state government behind closed doors”, he is quoted as saying.
59. The number of graduate teachers has fallen off a cliff in Queensland resulting in critical staff shortages. Education Queensland data shows 2272 first-year teachers employed in state schools as of November 1, 2023, compared with 3154 graduates in 2022 and 2881 in 2021.
60. Minister Stirling Hinchliffe says housing the displaced Brisbane Lions and Queensland Cricket isn’t the state’s problem, despite Deputy Premier Steven Miles saying it was. What a circus!
61. As of 8/12/23 73 tents accommodating the homeless counted within a 3 km radius of the CBD – a number equivalent to what a number of holiday parks on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts could be filled. Whilst Pinkenba remains empty.
62. Despite billions in project blowouts the Palaszczuk government cuts funding to Gymnastics Queensland. Funding totalling to a huge $75,000.00 over two years. (Dec 2023)
63. Despite numerous policy failures and infrastructure blowouts Premier Palaszczuk’s salary is to jump $34,000.00 by July 2024 to $462,450.00 – all whilst Queenslanders are forced to live in tents and can’t afford the basics. (Dec 2023)
64. The Labor state government is still to collect on 14,700 outstanding invoices for unpaid hotel quarantine bills totalling $38.16 million. Two years after borders were reopened.
