Parliament wrap up

Another week wrapped up in Parliament.

The two main bills passed this week were the Electoral laws and changes to childcare support.

The electoral laws were a stitch up designed to make it harder for minor parties to fight the major parties.

This isn’t surprising as more and more people are tired of the major parties offering no solutions.

The primary vote of the two major parties are continuing to fall because of this. Rather than offer solutions the major parties have changed the law to entrench their stale monopoly.

The other bill that was passed was the abolition of the childcare activity test. Now all parents can be subsidised to put their child in childcare for three days a week regardless of if they work.

This is completely unfair to those people who work shift work and can’t access childcare because they work when childcare centres are closed.

They get no support.

People First believes that all parents should get childcare support regardless of their situation. This will provide greater flexibility to both working and stay at home parents.

I will keep fighting.

Talk soon.
