7. Given the Federal government says it doesn’t believe in vaccine mandates why does it continue to buy, regulate, indemnify and track vaccine use for State governments and employers that do mandate vaccines? 8. Why doesn’t the Federal government tell State governments and employers to buy, indemnify, regulate and track vaccines if they are going to mandate rather than say one thing and then enable the opposite thing?

The Australian Government is a strong supporter of immunisation. It is a safe and effective way to prevent the spread of many diseases in the community that can cause hospitalisation, serious ongoing health conditions, or even death. The Federal Government continues to purchase and supply hospitals, doctors, pharmacies, aged care centres and the state and territory governments with vital and lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines to ensure the safety of all Australians and their families and communities.

Vaccine agreements continue to be managed by the Federal Government to ensure equitable and fair access across all state and territory governments as well as federally managed vaccination administration sites. This approach is also essential for ensuring all COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective for use within Australia as the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) performs batch testing before distribution.
