FEATURED NEWS

Senator RENNICK: With regard to a search that was conducted on a public servant a number of years ago with regard to the Leppington Triangle, could I also get the correspondence between the Australian Federal Police and the Auditor-General as to what evidence they gave you to justify that search in their private residence, please?

Question Number: 84
PDR Number: LCC-OBE22-84
Date Submitted: 08/11/2022
Department or Body: Australian Federal Police

In August 2020, the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) provided the AFP with information including a copy of the proposed report into the purchase of the “Leppington Triangle”. The AFP conducted its own inquiries during the course of the investigation. As a result of these inquiries, the AFP applied for and was issued with search warrants under section 3E of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth). The information put before the issuing officer for the section 3E search warrant was sufficient to satisfy the issuing officer there were reasonable grounds for suspecting there was evidential material on the premises. A copy of the information used to support the search warrant application will not be provided as this would reveal police methodologies.
