FEATURED NEWS

TGA can’t explain transfection, despite it being a design feature of mRNA vaccines

I won’t stop asking the questions until I get some answers.

Bureaucrat: I would also indicate that there are a number of conversations that we have answered a number of times through questions on notice

Yours truly: And I haven’t got the answers. That’s why I’m still here asking the same questions.

Another day, another deflection.

Senator RENNICK: It’s clear in your product assessment report that you used transfection. This is the first drug that’s ever been designed with a positive lipid that’s normally toxic to the human body to cross a cell membrane. Do you agree with that—that this is the first drug that’s ever used the process of transfection? Do you understand that and the implications that brings?

Prof. Lawler: I understand the mechanism that is used by this vaccine, and I also understand the comments that have been made previously regarding the lipids—the lipid nanoparticles—that are utilised. I also understand that they’ve been asked and answered a number of times as well in Senate questions.

Senator RENNICK: What does the transfection do? Explain to me what that does.

Prof. Lawler: I’m going to seek to ask Dr Robertson to join us at the table to discuss this with you. I would also indicate, as I’ve already mentioned, that there are a number of conversations that we have answered a number of times through questions on notice.

Senator RENNICK: I haven’t got the answers. That’s the problem. That’s why I’m still here, asking the same questions.
