CSIRO has previously undertaken integrated, scenario-based analysis to understand the outcomes of Australia pursuing a policy of net zero emissions.

The most recent analysis of this type conducted by CSIRO is the Australian National Outlook 2019 (https://www.csiro.au/en/work-with-us/services/consultancy-strategic-advice-services/csirofutures/australian-national-outlook). The modelling parameters used in the ANO 2019 report are published in the Technical Report, available at: https://publications.csiro.au/publications/publication/PIcsiro:EP183813.

More recently, the Australian Government has published Australia’s Long-Term Emissions Reduction Plan which outlines a pathway for Australia to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. The modelling and analysis for Australia’s Long-Term Emissions Reduction Plan is published at: https://www.industry.gov.au/data-and-publications/australias-long-term-emissions-reduction-plan.
