National Boards are responsible for regulating the health professions. Part 8 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law as in force in each state and territory sets out actions that may be taken in response to notifications. If a National Board is concerned that there is a serious risk to public safety, or it is otherwise in the public interest, immediate action can be taken (including to suspend a practitioner’s registration) while further enquiries are made. Please refer to our response at Qs 5 and 6 regarding anonymous complaints, and our response to Qs. 8, 9, 10 and 11. Q 239 is a duplicate of Q 12.
