a) Timeframes for claims processing under the COVID-19 Vaccine Claims Scheme (the Scheme) vary on a case-by-case basis. Many claims can be complex to assess and there are a number of steps in the process that are outside of the control of Services Australia (the Agency). The Agency may request more information and provides claimants two months to respond should they choose to do so. If a response is received, the claim will be assessed again on the basis of the additional information provided. Claims may be reviewed by the Independent Medical Panel being the Therapeutic Goods Administration or Medical Officers in the Department of Health and Aged Care. Claims may be reviewed by the Independent Legal Panels or internal legal experts in the Agency. If a claim is approved, a deed is prepared and the claimant has up to 6 months to consider and sign the deed. b) Claims are considered finalised when they have been deemed payable or not payable.
